Buzz Williams: Troll Genius

Buzz Williams two-stepping to "Country Roads" by John Denver after his Marquette Golden Eagles defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown.
This is Marquette head basketball coach Buzz Williams.  He danced in the middle of WVU Coliseum after to "Country Roads" by John Denver, you know, the song that goes "Take me home/Country roads/To the place/ I belong/ West Virginia..."  Yeah, that song.  In West Virginia.  After his team beat the Mountaineers.  In West Virginia.  In West Virginia.  IN WEST VIRGINIA.

That's awesome.  And ballsy, because West Virginians are crazy people.  Not all of them, mind you, just the college students.

Video below:

The best part about this video (well, moreso the extended video on Deadspin--link below), other than the dance, because wow, is the student section reaction.  Oh man, were they upset.  Especially one guy, who I have chronicled throughout "Buzz Dance-gate."

This fan in the gray hoodie is not happy and voices his displeasure with Buzz Williams.  How dare he soil John Denver's good music with his "fancy dancin'!"  At this point, he is on the floor of the WVU Coliseum along with many other students and fans.

Here, he is incredulous as Buzz has the audacity to go about his business and not listen to the fan yell at him.  Look, he even turns his back on him, a true sign of disrespect!  The poor boy is inconsolable.

At this point, the Event Staff workers (who moonlight as NBA refs) step in to do their jobs and get people the hell away from the media and coaches.  But, not before our boy gets a few more licks in.  You can tell it better in the video, but he has removed a hat he was once wearing and is flailing it wildly in Buzz's direction in a futile attempt to tell him, "Hey, look at my hat."

Event Staff tells him it is time to leave.  But he replies with a 'no,' bro.  It ain't goin' down like that.  I thought we were cool.

"What, you think you're better than me?  Ah, yeah, I see how it is.  You just sit there and drink your bottled water and dance your little dance.  I'll see you in the parking lot, then we will see who can dance."

Everyone is having a good time, except our boy, who now has to deal with Morgantown's Finest.

And he leaves, hat in hand, a disgraced man.  Never will John Denver echo through the dorm in quite the same way.
